Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

Winemaker’s Notes:
This wine is predominantly sourced from three separate vineyard sites around Coldstream, a warmer sub-region on the floor of the Yarra Valley. A small percentage of merlot was included in the final blend to add texture and mouthfeel to the wine.

Shoot thinning and positioning of the canopy resulted in fully ripe grapes with a high degree of color and sugar. The warm growing season produced fruit with a ripe flavor profile and fine long tannins.

Color: Dark red with a vibrant purple hue.
Nose: Intense cassis, blackberries and dark chocolate notes with hints of cedar, spice and vanilla.
Palate: Soft, layered and richly textured. The combination of dark berry characters, spice and fine-grained tannins has produced a wine with great depth and finish that is long and satisfying.

Technical Information:
Appellation: Yarra Valley
Alcohol: 14.5%
Cellaring: 15 months in French barriques and hogsheads

Magaret River

Since its inception in 1978, Oakridge has been making wine in the Yarra Valley and throughout that time has been dedicated to producing some of the finest examples
of cool climate wine styles seen in Australia. The Yarra Valley's cool climate provides a long ripening period which produces wines of intense varietal flavor, finesse and elegance, wines that when consumed young have immediate appeal but will age gracefully with careful cellaring.
